Asha School

    ASHA School Udhampur located in the campus of Command Hospital (Northern Command) was established on 04 July 1994 as rehabilitation centre for differently abled children.

  • Objective.    The objective of this school is to prepare these children to face the challenges of the world and lead a life which is as close to normal as possible and also to provide education and pre-vocational training to help them utilise their inherent capabilities towards leading a better quality of life.
  • Asha School Committee Role.

  • Management.    The responsibility to run the school remains with HQ 71 Sub Area. The School has a Managing Committee headed by Regional President AWWA Northern Command. The school is registered with the Directorate of Social Welfare, Jammu.
  • Criteria.     Children of defence personnel, ex-servicemen and civilians in the age group of 3 to 18 years who are disabled due to Impaired Hearing, Mental/Psychological disorder or Physically Handicapped are given admission.

  • COVID-19 Impact.
    • An online physiotherapy consultation is being given to the differently-abled students of ASHA School with effect from 27 Jul 20. Four students are being taken for treatment daily in different time schedules between 1000h to 1100h. Lt Col SK Singh, Gd Spl (Ortho), Maj Bhavya Sirohi, Gd Spl (Ortho) and physiotherapists of Command Hospital, Udhampur explain various types of limbs exercises and stretching exercises to the parents of students.
    • Five children are being provided online speech therapy by ENT Department of Command Hospital, Udhampur in different time schedules. Mrs Manik Gargate, Audiologist & Speech Therapist is conducting the speech therapy for the children
    • A comprehensive health check up is being provided to the differently-abled students of ASHA school by Maj Gaurav Mukhija, Gd Spl (Paed) of Command Hospital, Udhampur. A health booklet in which all the check up details are recorded is being maintained and the same has been handed over to each student.
