The Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) launched a special program to enable recognition of soldiers through reorientation training and certification. Following the suit, Indian Army has embarked on its new mission by bringing the army spouses and wards into skills arena by starting a pilot project in the name of Army Skill Training Centre (ASTC) Meerut, to develop skills in ladies and wards with linkages to National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC); sponsored under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna (PMKVY) schemes.
