During the COVID pandemic, the Command Hospital shifted to its new location to be fully operational within a short period of six weeks.It is 1082 bedded with 40 beds in ICU, double than those in old location.Many state of art equipment have been installed in short time.
Inaugurated by Late Shri Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed, the then President of India on 20 Sep 1974, The Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre, Kirkee provides an alternate home to the paraplegic and quadriplegic ex-servicemen of the three Defence Services, who are medically boarded out from service having suffered spinal Cord injury in the line of duty.
The PRC is a centre for the 100% disabled ex-servicemen of the Armed Forces and is one of the only Services administered Centre worldwide. It has been described as the Mirror Image of India by late Sir George Bedbrook, the former President of International Medical Society of Paraplegia, United Kingdom. The Centre strives to ensure that Paraplegics/Quadriplegics retain a positive outlook in life by inculcating the aim It is Not Disability but the Ability that Counts.
Assisted Reproductive Technology Centre.
Under the aegis of AWWA two ARTC have been estabilished, one at Pune and other at Bhopal. The aim is to fulfill the dreams of the sub-fertile couples of Armed Forces and help them achieve parenthood. ART Centre, Pune is a home of hope for the sub fertile couples. It caters to an outpatient workload of approximate 150 couples daily and conducts approx 70 IVF cycles per month with 60% of positive results which match the global figures.
ART Centre, Bhopal became operational with effect from 01 Apr 2018. It has patient workload of 430 per month. Nine to Twelve IVF cycles are conducted per month with success rate of 45%. It has total 588 patient registered for the treatment.
This unique centre managed by Department of ENT, Armed Forces Medical College and Command Hospital (Southern Command) was started on 19 Jul 2011. SHRAVAN has been instrumental in implementation of Universal Neonatal Hearing Screening Programme (UNHSP) and Cochlear Implant Programme for the service clientele.
Till date this centre has a total of 1500 registrations, 126 Cochlear Implant, 217 Auditory Verbal Therapy, 20 Star Performers and 100% Mainstream Education for the children.
