Antahashakti

Antahashakti is a shop created by women, for women. Akshayapatra

Southern Star AWWA Donation Centre Akshaypatra was commissioned at Maitri Shopping Complex, Camp, Pune on 27 Feb 2023. This noble initiative has been envisioned by Southern Command Army Commander Lt Gen Ajai Kumar Singh and implemented under the aegis of Southern Star Army Wives Welfare Association. Items ranging from clothes and household items to food items can now be donated by volunteers to Akshaypatra. To ensure optimal utilisation of donated items, Southern Star AWWA has partnered with the renowned NGO Goodwill India from Pune which distributes the donated item to the needy.



Project Samriddhi

Project Samriddhi is a women empowerment initiative taken in Dhrangadhra, Gujarat which is aligned with various Central Government schemes including 'Samarth', 'Mudra', 'Pradhmantri Suraksha Bima Yojana', etc. It provides support for wards and families of Indian Army personnel for scholarships, insurances, loans for development and participation in exhibitions for vide publicity.

Niyogin

Under this project at Trivandrum, ladies are trained to extract coconut oil to empower them to become financially independent. Their monthly production capacity is approx 15 to 20 Ltr. The product has been tested and cleared by the authorised laboratories and retailed at designated AWWA outlets.



Project Disha

A project for the empowerment of women through education. An initiative for families who were unable to complete their education for various reasons. Many families have been motivated to identify and pursue their passion.



Project Udaan

A project for the empowerment of women through employment. This project is designed to provide gainful employment to familes. Many families have been motivated to identify and pursue their passion. Five women have been gainfully employed in Bhopal recently under this project.



Dari Making

Dari making by women is an age-old tradition that has been passed down through generations. With intricate designs and vibrant colors, each dari is a unique piece of art that represents the cultural heritage of the weaver. Women use traditional techniques and natural fibres to create these beautiful rugs, showcasing their skill and creativity. Through dari making, women are able to not only preserve their cultural traditions but also provide for themselves and their families.



Vidyanjali Scheme

Vidyanjali scheme has been embraced by all APS in Southern Command with great enthusiasm both by the management and the students. Student exchange programmes and aid government/municipal schools in terms of books, stationery, lectures, etc and is being carried out on regular basis.



Diamond Boys Hostel

In order to fulfil a long felt need, Southern Command Girls Hostel was inaugurated on 24 Aug 1996 by the then Regional President AWWA Southern Command, Dr (Mrs) Ranjana Malik. The hostel was shifted to Ghorpuri in June 2004 and relocated to Kirkee in July 2005. Dependent daughters of serving/retired/deceased Army personnel are given priority for admission. Whenever a seat is allotted, the parents/guardian will utilize the seat within a maximum period of one month plus seven days (for postal delays) of allotment by physically admitting the girl in the hostel.



Southern Command Girls Hostel

The Southern Command Girls Hostel (SCGH), Kirkee was inaugurated by Regional President AWWA, Southern Command, on 24 August 1996 and now it has been operational in its present location since 25 Jul 2005. The aim of the hostel is to provide affordable, safe and hygienic accommodation to dependent daughters of serving/retired/deceased Army personnel so that they can avail the benefits of quality education being imparted by large number of higher educational institutions at Pune.



VTC

The Vocational Training Centre (VTC) was registered through Army Welfare Placement Organisation (AWPO) by Directorate of Indian Army Veterans (DIAV) on 17 Mar 2017. As of now eight Army Skill Training Centres have been set up in Southern Command at Pune, Kirkee, Jodhpur, Sagour, Gwalior, Bhopal, Jhansi and Secunderabad. ASTC Ahmedabad is in the process of upgradation.
