ASTC was established at Command Hospital on 01 Jun 1992.The present location was Inaugurated by Mrs Kirti Kapoor on 02 Aug 2009. The Vocational Training Centre (VTC), Fort William upgraded to Army Skill training Centre (ASTC) on 02 Jan 2017 by Mrs Neerupma Bakshi . The purpose is to conduct workshops and courses including vocational training for families and wards of Defence personnel and some civilians to make them self-confident and increase employability and earning capability. It encourages spirit of enterprise. At Kolkata the responsibility is bestowed on Eastern Command Signal regiment under HQ Eastern Command (Sigs).
